Good question!
As I understand it, one of the many guiding principles of the open science movement is promoting a collaborative and inclusive approach to research.
Collaboration is easier said than done. It was the 20th century automaker Henry Ford who famously said, “Coming together is a beginning, staying together is progress, and working together is success.”
So, in the context of our Therapoid community, "convening groups for greater collaboration" means inviting in, facilitating and supporting individuals from different backgrounds, disciplines, or nations to work together towards common scientific goals. The ide is to use tools and methods that enable members of this community to leverage the collective knowledge, skills, and shared resources of the group to more efficiently, productively, or effectively advance science in ways they would not have been able to working independently. In summary, the purpose of convening is to encourage and dscilitate cooperation and collaboration by design.
